Our boys loved walking through the submarine and learning about the history of Wisconsin ship builders. Because it was the first-ever Sub Fest, there were veterans who served on submarines who were giving tours and sharing stories along the way. We had some time before the tour so we looked at some of the well laid out exhibits dealing with the area’s shipping industry and the importance of the Great Lakes to the region. The museum is located right on the the Manitowoc River not far west of Lake Michigan with the submarine the USS Cobia resting in the river. Manitowoc was our last big stop before heading home the next day with our sights set on the Maritime Museum.
